Food Processing Plants and Line in Kenya
Kenyan mains are quoted at 240 V, 50 Hz, which is a detail best resolved at the start of a specification rather than discovered during commissioning. Each machine in this division carries its own power supply and power consumption figure, and a line built from several units has to be matched to the incoming supply as a whole: a Food Bowl Cutter working next to a High Speed Tea Bag Packing Machine with Box Device System is one electrical load, not two. Outlets are Type G, though fixed plant is normally wired straight into the distribution board.
Verification happens before export
Kenya operates Pre-Export Verification of Conformity through the Kenya Bureau of Standards. The assessment is carried out in the country of supply, so the documentation travels with the consignment rather than being put together on arrival. That timing has one practical implication worth stating in any enquiry: the inspection window has to be built into the manufacturing schedule, and an order confirmed without it has a gap in the middle of its programme.
Mombasa
Containerised cargo arrives at Mombasa, through the Kilindini harbour terminals. From there inland movement is a separate commercial arrangement, and the delivery term chosen determines whether the supplier's responsibility stops at the quay or continues to the factory gate. Weight and overall dimensions are the figures that govern handling, so they are worth confirming before transport is booked for anything bulky.
Public buyers
Public procurement is overseen by the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority, with notices published at tenders.go.ke. Where a tender sets out a required capacity and a degree of automation, those two fields decide which machines in the range can honestly be offered. Where a specification is written around a particular output per hour, it is better to ask the buyer for the figure in writing than to infer it from the tender title.
Choosing the machines
The division runs well beyond the tea bag equipment it is best known for; this part of the range includes a Food Cashew Pressure Steam Boiler, a Food Small Cashew Steam Boiler and several bag formats, among them a single chamber machine putting three to five bags into an envelope and a version producing a crimped outer bag. The fields that separate them in practice are capacity, material, automation grade, weight and footprint. Which of those are fixed and which are negotiable is the useful content of a first enquiry. Installation, operator training and any warranty position are matters for the supply contract and are not supplied as standing services, so they should be written into the order rather than assumed from the specification sheet.
