This page explains what this website collects, why, and what we do with it. It is written to be read rather than to be impenetrable.

What the enquiry form collects

When you send an enquiry we record what you type into it: your name, company, email address, telephone number, country and destination port, the quantity you ask about and your message. We also record the page the enquiry was sent from, so we know which machine you were looking at, and the IP address the message came from, which is kept to identify and block automated abuse of the form.

We use this to answer you, to prepare a quotation, and to fulfil an order if one follows. We do not sell it, rent it, or pass it to anyone for their own marketing.

Where it goes

An enquiry is stored in this website's own database and sent to our export desk by email. It is read by the people who quote and ship. Beyond that it is shared only where it is necessary to carry out what you asked for — for example a freight forwarder or carrier needs a consignee name and destination to move a shipment — or where we are required to disclose it by law.

Our hosting provider and our email provider necessarily process this data in the course of running the server and delivering the mail.

Cookies

This site sets one cookie: a session cookie, created by the server, which keeps a page working across requests and expires when you close your browser. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party tracking scripts on this site at present. If that changes, this page will be updated before the change goes live.

Server logs

Like any web server, ours records requests — the address requested, the time, the IP address and the browser identification. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure, and are not combined with enquiry data to build a profile of anyone.

How long it is kept

Enquiries and the correspondence arising from them are kept while they may still be needed — a buyer who asked about a machine two years ago often comes back to the same specification — and for as long as any tax or contractual record-keeping obligation requires. If you would like your enquiry deleted sooner, ask, and we will delete it.

What you can ask us to do

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to the address on the contact page from the address you used for the enquiry, or tell us enough to find it. We will act on it rather than argue about which regulation applies to you.

Children

This is a website for buying industrial machinery. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If what we collect or what we do with it changes, this page changes with it.
