Water Treatment Plant Manufacturers and Exporters in China
This division holds 3 water treatment plants – reverse osmosis boiler feed treatment, sewage treatment and drinking water purification – manufactured in China under our own brand and exported worldwide. Water treatment is specified from an analysis rather than from a catalogue: what is in the water and what it must become are the only two things that determine the plant, and neither can be assumed from the location.
What does a water treatment plant do?
It changes water from the quality available to the quality required. Which processes that takes depends entirely on the difference between the two. Boiler feed treatment removes the hardness and dissolved solids that would scale a boiler. Drinking water purification removes contamination to a potable standard. Sewage treatment reduces effluent to a level a discharge consent permits. The same word covers three quite different plants.
Water treatment ranges in this division
| Range | Equipment | Applications |
|---|---|---|
| Water Treatment Plant | RO boiler water treatment plants | Boiler feed water, process water, scale and dissolved solids removal |
| Water Purification Equipments | Drinking water purification plants | Potable supply for premises, institutions and communities |
| Waste Water Treatment Plant | Sewage treatment plants | Effluent treatment to meet a discharge consent |
How to specify a water treatment plant
What does the enquiry have to include?
A water analysis, the flow rate required, and the standard the treated water must meet. Without the analysis nothing can be specified, because the same flow rate needs completely different equipment depending on what is in the raw water. An analysis from the actual source, not a regional average, is what the plant is sized against.
Why is boiler feed treatment different from drinking water?
Because the targets are different and in some respects opposite. Boiler feed is about removing hardness and dissolved solids that scale and corrode at temperature and pressure; the water does not need to be palatable. Drinking water is about removing contamination to a health standard; some dissolved minerals are acceptable and even desirable. A plant built for one is not a plant for the other.
What determines a sewage plant's specification?
The discharge consent, not the inflow. The consent sets the quality the effluent must reach, and that target determines the process stages. A plant specified from flow alone will be the right size and the wrong design. Send the consent conditions with the enquiry.
Specifications and standards to compare
| Equipment | Key specifications to compare | Relevant standards |
|---|---|---|
| Water Treatment Plant | Flow rate, feed water analysis, treated water target, membrane type, recovery rate, pretreatment | Specify required water quality standard at enquiry |
| Water Purification Equipments | Flow rate, raw water source and analysis, treatment stages, disinfection method | Must meet the potable water standard required at the destination |
| Waste Water Treatment Plant | Design flow, influent load, required effluent quality, process type, sludge handling | Must meet the discharge consent at the destination |
Two of these three are specified against a legal standard rather than a preference: potable water quality and discharge consent are both set by the authority at the destination. Send the applicable standard with the water analysis.
Who buys from this division
| Buyer | What they typically need |
|---|---|
| Industrial plant with a boiler | Feed water treatment sized to boiler demand and raw water hardness |
| Food or beverage factory | Process water to a product-quality standard, not merely potable |
| Municipality or water authority | Drinking water treatment for a community supply against a national standard |
| Hotel, hospital or campus | Potable treatment and effluent treatment for a self-contained site |
| Industrial site with a discharge consent | Sewage or effluent plant designed to the consent conditions |
| Development or infrastructure project | Package plants where no mains water or sewer connection exists |
Consumables, testing and running cost
Every plant here has an ongoing cost that is larger than most buyers expect at purchase. Reverse osmosis membranes foul and are replaced periodically, and how quickly depends directly on the pretreatment, which is why skimping on pretreatment is a false economy that shows up as membrane cost. Media, chemicals and testing are recurring for all three plant types. Treated water testing is usually a legal obligation rather than a check, particularly for potable supply and for discharge, and the testing regime should be understood before the plant is ordered rather than after it is running.
What is included and what is not
Supplied: the plant designed against the water analysis and target quality supplied, with an initial consumable set as quoted, packed for export with documentation. Not supplied: civil works, buildings, tankage unless quoted, pipework to and from the plant, electrical installation, discharge consent or operating licences. Commissioning and operator training are set out in the supply contract, and for sewage plants in particular the commissioning period matters because biological processes take time to establish.
Questions buyers ask
What do you need before you can quote a water treatment plant?
A water analysis from the actual source, the flow rate required and the quality the treated water must meet. The same flow needs completely different equipment depending on what is in the raw water, so without an analysis any quotation is guesswork. A regional average will not do; the source itself has to be tested.
Can one plant do drinking water and boiler feed?
Not well, because the targets differ and in places conflict. Boiler feed treatment strips out hardness and dissolved solids that scale and corrode under heat and pressure, and palatability is irrelevant. Drinking water treatment targets a health standard, and some dissolved minerals are acceptable or wanted. Build each for its purpose.
What sizes a sewage treatment plant?
The discharge consent rather than the inflow. The consent states the effluent quality that must be reached, and that determines which process stages are needed. A plant specified from flow alone comes out the right size and the wrong design. Attach the consent itself, not a note of the flow.
Why do reverse osmosis membranes need replacing?
They foul in service, and how fast depends directly on the pretreatment ahead of them. Saving money on pretreatment is a false economy that reappears as membrane cost, usually within the first year. Membranes are a planned consumable; budget for them rather than treating replacement as a fault.
Is treated water testing our responsibility?
Yes, and for potable supply and for discharge it is normally a legal obligation rather than a check. The testing regime and its frequency are set by the authority at your destination, and they should be understood before the plant is ordered rather than discovered once it is running.
How long does commissioning take?
For physical and chemical treatment, a matter of days once services are connected. For sewage treatment it is longer, because the biological process has to establish itself before the plant reaches its design performance. Allow for that period in the project programme rather than expecting consent-quality effluent from the first week.
