Distribution Transformer Manufacturers and Exporters in China
This division holds 6 items of power generation and distribution equipment, principally oil cooled distribution transformers together with substation and industrial electrification work, manufactured in China under our own brand and exported worldwide. Transformers are bought against a load and a supply, and the figures that decide the specification – rating, phases, cooling and voltage ratio – are set by the network the unit will sit in rather than by preference.
What does a distribution transformer do?
It steps the voltage of an incoming supply down to the level the premises or network beneath it uses. The rating in kVA is the load it can carry continuously without overheating, and it is chosen against the connected load with margin for growth, because a transformer run at its limit for years ages faster and a replacement is an outage rather than an upgrade.
Power equipment in this division
| Category | Equipment | Applications |
|---|---|---|
| Distribution transformers | Single phase and three phase oil cooled distribution transformers, 400 kVA to 1000 kVA | Stepping supply down for industrial premises, estates and network distribution |
| Outdoor Substations | Outdoor substation equipment | Network distribution points and site incoming supply |
| Gas Insulated Sub Stations | Substation insulators and components | Compact substation installations where space is limited |
| Industrial Electrification | Industrial electrical installation equipment | Factory and site power distribution |
How to specify a transformer
What rating do I need?
Your connected load plus growth, not your present peak. A transformer sized exactly to today's demand is undersized the moment anything is added, and replacing one means an outage, civil work and a crane. The rating steps are coarse, so there is usually a sensible next size up rather than a continuous choice.
Single phase or three phase?
Three phase for anything with motors, which is most industrial and commercial load. Single phase for small rural or residential distribution where only lighting and domestic load is served. The connected equipment decides it rather than the size of the supply.
What must the enquiry state?
Primary and secondary voltage, frequency, rating in kVA, phases, and whether the unit is for indoor or outdoor installation. Voltage ratio in particular is specific to the network: a transformer built for one country's distribution voltage is of no use in another, and it cannot be changed after manufacture.
Specifications and standards to compare
| Equipment | Key specifications to compare | Relevant standards |
|---|---|---|
| Distribution transformers | Rating in kVA, primary and secondary voltage, frequency, phases, cooling type, vector group, impedance | Specify required standard and test certificates at enquiry |
| Substation equipment | System voltage, insulation level, enclosure and ingress rating, mounting | Specify required standard at enquiry |
| Industrial electrification | System voltage, load, protection arrangement, installation environment | Specify required standard at enquiry |
Transformers are routinely tested before dispatch and the test certificates often form part of the acceptance. Say at enquiry which tests the specification requires and whether witness testing is expected, because both affect lead time and must be arranged during production.
Who buys from this division
| Buyer | What they typically need |
|---|---|
| Electricity utility or distributor | Transformers to network voltage and vector group in tender quantities |
| Industrial plant | A unit sized to connected load with growth margin, outdoor rated |
| Property or estate developer | Distribution for a site, with substation provision designed in |
| Electrical contractor | Equipment matched to a specification already issued by a client |
| Government electrification programme | Standard ratings in volume with test certificates per unit |
| Mining or remote site | Outdoor equipment rated for ambient conditions and dust |
Testing, documentation and delivery
Transformers are heavy, individually built to a voltage specification, and usually accepted against test results rather than inspection. Routine tests are carried out before dispatch and the certificates travel with the unit; where a specification calls for type or special tests, or for the buyer to witness testing, that has to be established at order because it affects both programme and price. Oil filling and handling at the destination, offloading and the civil work for the plinth are the buyer's and need a crane and access planned before delivery rather than on the day.
What is included and what is not
Supplied: the transformer or equipment built to the voltage, rating and standard specified, with routine test certificates, packed and prepared for shipment. Not supplied: civil works, plinths, cable termination, oil top-up, commissioning into a live network, or utility approval. Site conditions including ambient temperature and altitude should be stated at enquiry, since both affect the rating a transformer can actually carry.
Questions buyers ask
What rating should I order?
Your connected load with margin for growth, not today's peak. The rating steps are coarse, so there is normally a sensible next size up. A transformer sized exactly to current demand is undersized as soon as anything is added, and replacing one means an outage, civil work and a crane rather than a simple upgrade.
Single phase or three phase?
Three phase for anything driving motors, which covers most industrial and commercial load. Single phase for small rural or residential distribution carrying lighting and domestic load only. The equipment being supplied decides it rather than the size of the incoming supply.
Why does the voltage ratio have to be stated?
Because it is specific to your network and cannot be changed after manufacture. Distribution voltages differ between countries, so a transformer built for one network is of no use on another. Primary and secondary voltage, frequency and phases all have to be confirmed before the unit is built.
What test certificates come with a transformer?
Routine tests are carried out before dispatch and those certificates travel with the unit. Where a specification calls for type tests, special tests or for your representative to witness testing, say so at order: all three affect programme and price, and they have to be arranged during production rather than requested afterwards.
Does site altitude or temperature affect the rating?
Yes, both. A transformer relies on air to carry heat away, and thinner air at altitude or a high ambient temperature reduces what it can carry continuously. State the site conditions at enquiry so the rating is chosen against them rather than against standard reference conditions.
What has to be ready before delivery?
The plinth, the access route and the lifting arrangement. These units are heavy and individually built, and delivery day is not the moment to discover the crane cannot reach the position. Cable termination, oil top-up where required and commissioning into a live network are all for a locally qualified contractor.
