About this unit
A long tyre lever boot in Nylon 6, fitted over the lever to protect the rim while a tyre is worked off or on. It exists because alloy and other light metal rims mark easily, and a steel lever bearing directly on the rim edge leaves a gouge that is visible for the life of the wheel and can be grounds for a claim against a tyre fitter. Nylon 6 is hard enough to transmit the force without collapsing yet softer than the rim, so the lever works normally and the rim survives. Used together with tyre levers rather than on its own. Specify the lever size it has to fit.
