Dar es Salaam handles around 95% of Tanzania's international trade and is where our machinery lands. It is also a Central Corridor gateway, so equipment destined for Burundi, Rwanda, eastern DRC or Zambia can be routed through it - worth saying in the enquiry, because the inland leg changes both the price and the packing.

Tanzania's Pre-Shipment Verification of Conformity programme is run by the Tanzania Bureau of Standards and a Certificate of Conformity is issued before shipment, not on arrival. The scope matters here: the programme is organised by product category rather than applying to everything, and investors' capital goods, mining equipment and industrial spare parts can be exempted on application to TBS. Whether a particular machine needs a certificate or an exemption letter is worth settling before the order rather than at the quay, and we will supply whichever set of documents the route requires.

Government purchasing goes through the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority and the national e-procurement system. A Tanzania Investment Centre certificate of incentives carries relief on project capital goods, which changes the landed cost on a plant-scale order - tell us if the project holds one.
