CIP Cleaning System

Cleaning in place sets are sized by the circuit they have to wash, not by the product a line makes. Two builds appear in this category: the Food Small Integration CIP System, a compact skid with tanks and pump assembled together, and the Food Sub-Vertical CIP System, arranged upwards where floor area is short.

How the duty is worked out

A set holds solutions ready and circulates them through tanks, pipework and fillers in sequence, then takes spent solution back for recovery or discharge. Recorded vessels include an acerbity pot for acid solution and a water pot; the pump side is described by flow, lift and motor rating, with a returning self-priming pump handling what comes back from the plant. Lift has to beat the static head and friction loss of the longest loop on site, and flow has to be high enough to keep velocity up in the largest bore being cleaned. Both numbers come off your pipework drawings, so have them to hand.

Choosing between the two arrangements

• Integrated skid: fewer connections to make, moves as one piece, suits a single line or a small dairy or juice works
• Sub-vertical: stacked vessels for a narrow equipment room or a mezzanine
• Either way, state tank volumes, the number of solutions you run, and whether solution is recovered or dumped
• Confirm the electrical supply for the pump motor and the drain capacity where the unit will stand

A cleaning set is commonly ordered alongside process equipment so that one voltage and one pipe standard carry through the whole project. Warranty, installation, operator training and continuing parts supply are matters for the supply contract, and each can be quoted with the order.
