About this unit
A wheeled, mechanically driven paver laying from a basic width of 2.8 metres out to a maximum of 6 metres, at thicknesses up to 250 mm, fed from a 12 tonne hopper and powered by an 86 kilowatt engine. Wheels rather than tracks is the first decision: a wheeled paver moves itself between sites on the road and turns tightly in an urban job, where a tracked machine has to be floated in and needs room. The trade is traction on a soft base. Hopper capacity decides how long the machine keeps laying between truck changes, and 12 tonnes is sized to take a standard tipper load without the screed stopping.
