How the emery roller whitener works
Brown rice moves along a turning emery roller that rubs off the bran layer. Because the long roller spreads the work over more surface, each grain gets a gentle, even rub instead of a hard scrape, which is why this design keeps the broken rate low.
An external suction fan sends air in at both ends of the spindle and at the feed port. The air flow cools the rice and draws out bran, which cuts the chaff left in the product.
