ABS and PC Hard Shell Anti Riot Armour
This ABS and PC hard shell anti riot armour protects officers from blunt force and melee attacks. Its moulded plastic shell has impact ridges that spread the force of a blow, while foam padding inside cushions the body. We make it in China as part of our Anti Riot Armour line, one of the Army Equipment groups we supply to police and government tender buyers.
How ABS and PC hard shell anti riot armour works
ABS is a tough, light plastic, and PC, or polycarbonate, adds high impact strength. Together they form a rigid outer shell. The ridges on the surface spread each strike over a wider area, so less force reaches one spot.
Under the shell sits foam padding, then a soft brush and mesh lining. The lining cuts rubbing on the skin and keeps the suit comfortable over long shifts. The maker states the guards resist blows, stabs from sharp tools, fire and acid.
Tested strength
The maker lists these results:
- A dagger under 2000N of static pressure for one minute does not pierce the chest, back or groin parts
- A 7.5kg steel ball dropped from 163cm on the chest and arms leaves no damage
- Performance holds from -20 to +55 °C
The spec table adds a protect area of 1.08m2, Velcro strength above 7.2N/cm2, buckles above 500N and joints above 2000N. The build material is listed as plastic.
Fit and use
Panels are usually segmented and held by hook-and-loop or buckle straps, which lets the officer run, kneel and raise a shield. The suit is aimed at public order duty. It is not ballistic armour, so units facing firearms need a rated vest as well.
