How an Agricultural Power Harrow differs from a rotary tiller

A rotary tiller spins blades on a flat shaft, which can smear wet soil and pull stones to the surface. A power harrow turns its rotors on upright shafts, so the blades stir the soil sideways. That leaves the lower layers in place and gives an even, level bed, which suits vegetables, seed crops and grass.

Harrows of this type are typically tractor-mounted, PTO-driven. They use PTO-driven rotating vertical tines/rotors. They are usually made with hardened steel tines, gearbox-driven rotor housing, and a typical size range is 1.5-4 m working width, up to 25 cm working depth.

Choosing the right width

We confirm the working width, tractor horsepower and PTO speed with buyers before production. As a rule, a wider harrow needs more power and a heavier tractor. Stony ground calls for the stone collar option.
