What a paddy separator does in a rice mill

A husker never removes every hull in one pass. The mix that leaves it holds brown rice and some paddy. A gravity separator uses the small gap in weight, size and surface grip between the two. The paddy goes back to the husker, and the brown rice moves on to the whitener.
