Army Equipment in Ghana
Certificates do not travel. An exporter shipping protective equipment into several African markets has to learn each regime separately, and Ghana's is EasyPASS, a pre-shipment verification scheme administered with the Ghana Standards Authority. It is not SONCAP, and a Nigerian SONCAP Certificate is worth nothing at Tema. Equally, a certificate of conformity issued under an East African verification programme is not a substitute here. A single production run of uniforms or riot protection destined for three countries needs three separate certification exercises, started in parallel; run them in series and the shipments will not sail together.
Plan backwards from the inspection, not the vessel
Because verification is done before shipment, the inspection date and not the sailing date is the fixed point in the schedule. Goods have to be finished, packed and available to inspect, with the documentation already consistent, before a booking is worth confirming. The order in which this goes wrong is always the same: production is planned to a vessel, inspection is arranged late, and the consignment misses both. Agree the item list and the descriptions early and keep the invoice, the packing list and the certificate application using identical wording.
One port, so plan for it
Ghanaian container cargo for domestic consumption arrives at Tema. With a single practical gateway there is no alternative discharge to fall back on, which makes schedule discipline more valuable than it is in a market with three or four options. It also means consignee and clearing arrangements can be settled once and reused across repeat orders.
Public tenders run through GHANEPS
Procurement is regulated by the Public Procurement Authority and conducted through the Ghana Electronic Procurement System. Registration on GHANEPS comes before participation, not with it, so a supplier or its local partner should be registered well ahead of a closing date. Documents are in English throughout, tender and commercial alike.
Power and the items that use it
Supply is 230 V at 50 Hz, and sockets take the British 13 A Type G plug. For the powered items in this division — flood lighting, the door frame metal detector, cameras — specify the plug pattern or a hard-wired tail on the order, since what leaves the factory will not be changed at the port.
Attributes are quoted only where they are held for the item: dimensions, material, colour, features, weight, gender for sized clothing, wash care and packaging type. The anti-riot armour is described as stab and shock resistant and carries no published ballistic rating, so a tender requiring one should be sent through before an offer is made. Parts supply and maintenance are not services we provide; installation, training and warranty terms are agreed deal by deal.
