Cotton rather than a synthetic blend is the point of this item. It breathes, it takes a printed camouflage pattern without the sheen that polyester gives, and it is comfortable under body armour in heat — which is the main reason units specify it for a hot-weather issue. The trade is that it holds moisture longer and takes longer to dry than a blend, so it suits garrison and training wear better than extended field use.
