Food Stacking Hot Wax Table Top Coder
The Stacking Hot Wax Table Top Coder prints batch numbers, dates and prices on labels and flat cartons fed from a stack. It prints up to 5 lines of 10 letters each at up to 300 imprints a minute, runs on 230 V AC at 180 W, and weighs about 30 kg. We build it in China for food, drug and consumer goods packers.
How the coder prints
Labels or cartons are placed in an input tray, either stacked or fed individually, and a reverse roller picks up each piece and carries it under the print head to a collection tray. The print position is set electronically with trim-pots, so the code appears in exactly the same location every time.
The message is made from brass or copper type, called stereos, that push onto rods on the print drum and lock in place. A circular hot wax ink cartridge and the stereos are heated to about 150 °C, and the heated ink solidifies immediately on the substrate, so there is no drying time and no smudging. Both R-type and T-type stereos fit, which lets you print along or across the line of travel.
