Large Character Handheld Ink Jet Printer for Industrial Coding
This large character handheld ink jet printer marks batch numbers, expiry dates, serial numbers, barcodes and logos on cartons, drums, pouches and labels without touching the surface. It prints characters from 1.2 mm up to 50 mm high, runs on mains or battery, and weighs about 1.2 kg without cartridge and battery. What the large character handheld ink jet printer can print
The unit is programmed on a 5-inch full colour touch screen LCD with an 800 x 480 display, or from a USB pen drive. It can print alphanumeric text, date and time, counters, logos and a wide set of codes, including DATAMATRIX, QR, EAN13, CODE128 and PDF417.

Print head, ink and speed
Printing uses an HP TIJ 2.5 thermal inkjet head, built into a 60 cc disposable cartridge of solvent or oil based ink in black, white and other colours. Speed reaches up to 60 metres per minute for 1 to 12 lines at 300 to 600 dpi. The head works up to 6 mm from the surface, so it suits both porous boxes and non-porous plastics. Ink dries in about five seconds on plastics and laminates, and one cartridge gives roughly 40 lakh characters at 2 mm height.
Power and working conditions
A 16.8 V lithium battery gives about 10 hours of use or 20 hours on standby. On mains the printer takes 90 to 240 Vac at 50/60 Hz and draws 5 W. It works from 0 to 55 °C and 10 to 80% relative humidity, non-condensing. The body measures 235 x 140 x 120 mm, and it can also be fixed on a conveyor stand for on-line coding.
