The 6.5kg side opening military bulletproof vest gives front, back and side cover while keeping the wearer mobile. It opens at the side for fast donning, has foam padded shoulder straps that fully adjust, and carries a detachable 360-degree MOLLE platform. How the vest spreads its weight
A vest worn for a full shift can strain the neck and shoulders, so this model uses padded shoulder supports and internal shock absorbing straps to distribute the load more evenly. The MOLLE platform runs all the way round, so pouches can sit on the sides and back, which shifts weight off the shoulders.
It can be worn as a stand-alone soft vest, or built up with additional components when the operation demands it. Optional add-ons include detachable shoulder, collar and throat, biceps, groin and lower back guards, plus hard armour plates.
Protection and test data
The specification lists the soft panels as tested against .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, 9mm and .40 S&W FMJ rounds without extra plates. Vests of this type typically sit in the NIJ IIIA range for soft armour. With hard plates added, the rating can rise, but that depends on the plate chosen. Check the NIJ body armor standards for how each level is tested, and ask us which test papers we can send with your order.
