How the screw press works

Fruit enters the feed hopper and meets a rotating screw shaft, where the volume of the spiral cavity gradually reduces toward the outlet, so the material is compressed harder as it travels forward. Juice passes through the perforated screen surrounding the screw, while the dry residue is discharged at the end.

Screens with different pore sizes can be selected to suit the characteristics of the raw material: a fine screen gives clearer juice from soft fruit, while a coarser screen keeps fibrous stock such as pineapple moving.

Choosing a Screw Juicer size
