What makes a regimental button different

A plain button only closes a garment. A regimental button also shows which force or unit the wearer belongs to, so its design, colour and finish have to stay the same across thousands of uniforms. That consistency is the main thing buyers ask us about.

These buttons are typically made from brass or an anodised metal alloy. Brass takes a crisp emblem and can be polished to a bright gold look, while anodised alloy is lighter and resists wear. Fixing is usually by a shank, which lifts the button off the fabric, or by sew-through holes for a flatter finish.

Sizes, sets and finishes

Most uniforms need more than one size. A dress jacket may use large front buttons and smaller ones on the pockets, cuffs and epaulettes. For that reason, Army Regimental Buttons are usually ordered as a standard uniform button sizing set, and we can match finish, shape and emblem to your sample.
