Army Bomb Suppression Blanket
The Army Bomb Suppression Blanket (BSB) is a layered fabric blanket, 1.5 m x 1.5 m and about 18-20 kg, that is laid over a suspect bomb or improvised explosive device (IED) to catch fragments. It is used with a Blast Containment Ring (BCR), and we make both in China for export.
How the blanket and ring work together
The ring is first stood on its edge around the suspect item, and the blanket then goes over the ring and the item while the team waits to examine it. If a detonation occurs, the ring directs the force upward, and the blanket flexes to hold most of the fragments. This combination reduces both sideways and upward discharge, so personnel and property nearby face considerably less harm.

The listed model, part of the bomb blanket group in our army equipment range, has an aerial density of 7 kg per square metre and is made from fabric in any colour you need. Protective blankets of this type usually use several layers of aramid fabric with an inner blast-containment lining.
