Agro Processing Equipments in Namibia
Diesel drive and mains drive are two different purchases
This range splits in a way that matters before anything else is discussed. The Agricultural Mahcinery with Diesel Engine Wheat Paddy Thresher and the Thresher with Diesel Corn Sheller Machine carry their own prime mover, which makes them indifferent to what the grid does and usable where there is no connection at all. The Oil Extraction Press Machine, the High Efficient Small Palm Oil Extractor Machine, the Commercial Mini Rice Mill Machine and the Rice Pocessing Machine are specified by power supply instead, and for those the Namibian figures apply: 230 V at 50 Hz, with Types M, N and C all found on local sockets. Where a machine is to be wired in rather than plugged in, say so on the order, because a fitted lead chosen in the factory is as likely to be wrong as right.
For the diesel machines the questions are different ones — fuel availability at the site, weight for transport across farm ground, and who will maintain the engine, since engine servicing is a local arrangement and not something supplied with the equipment.
Specify the press by the material it will run
An oil press is not a general-purpose machine. Throughput and configuration are quoted against the oilseed being processed, and coconut and cottonseed are handled differently in the way the press is set up and optioned. Name the material, and the condition it will be fed in, when asking for a quotation; a figure quoted for one feedstock does not transfer to another. The same discipline applies to the rice equipment, where the paddy variety and moisture condition govern what a mill will do. Weight and power consumption should be confirmed in writing for each item, both because they drive the site works and because they determine how the consignment is packed and handled.
Standards position and arrival
Namibia has nothing equivalent to the pre-export certificate schemes used by neighbouring states. Compulsory standards come from the Namibian Standards Institution on an individual product basis, which means there is no general programme to satisfy and equally no inspection abroad that will catch an error in the order. Establish whether a compulsory standard covers the specific machine before shipping. Entry is through Walvis Bay for containerised cargo, with Lüderitz as the other coastal option; documentation is in English.
Tendered purchases
Public and parastatal buying of threshing and milling plant runs through the Central Procurement Board of Namibia. Its bid documents set the technical schedule and the evaluation basis, so a response has to be built to that schedule rather than offering a catalogue item and explaining the differences. Warranty, installation and operator training are whatever the supply contract says they are; spares and after-sales service are not supplied.
