Fire Alarm
Detection and warning equipment is installed infrastructure, wired into a building and commissioned as a system. Two items appear in this category: a Fire Broadcast System for spoken announcement and alert tones, and a Factory Conventional DC12V Wired Fire Alarm for zone based detection and sounding.
Conventional wiring and what it implies
A conventional installation reports by zone instead of by individual device, so the zone plan drawn at design stage decides how precisely a fire can be located later on. Devices run from a 12V DC supply that has to be provided and backed up at the panel, while cable types and routes are matters for the installing contractor and the rules of the destination country. Operating voltage, operating temperature and operating environment are all recorded because a factory, a cold store and an outdoor yard are not the same duty.
What to send with an enquiry
- Device quantities by zone, and the panel those devices must work with
- Supply available at the panel, and whether 12V DC is already distributed
- Mounting arrangement at each position: wall, ceiling or surface box
- For broadcast, rated output power and sound pressure level against the area to be covered, plus signal to noise ratio in a noisy plant
- Remote control trigger mode, where broadcast has to be set off from a control room
- Housing material, and the temperature range at the installed position
Audibility in a working factory is the part most often underestimated, as machinery noise raises the level a sounder must reach for an announcement to be understood. Approval and certification regimes differ by country and remain the buyer's affair; nothing published here should be read as a statement of compliance in your jurisdiction. Whether warranty, installation, training or ongoing parts supply apply is decided by the supply contract, and each is quoted with the machines.
