About this unit
Block plane. Small, held in one hand, with the blade bedded at a low angle - which is what lets it cut end grain cleanly instead of tearing it. Used for trimming, fitting and easing edges, the work that comes after the bench planes have done theirs. Its size is the point: it goes where a jack plane cannot. Specify the body length, the blade width and whether an adjustable mouth is required.
