About this unit
A bomb suppression blanket is placed over a suspect device to contain fragmentation and direct blast upward rather than outward. It does not make a device safe; it buys distance for everyone around it while a disposal team works, and it limits the damage if the device functions before they arrive. Blankets are specified against the threat size a site is planning for and the way they will be carried and deployed.
