About this unit
Stillson pattern pipe wrench. The hook jaw is deliberately sprung in the frame, so turning force pulls the jaws tighter onto the pipe - the harder the joint resists, the harder the wrench grips. That self-tightening action is the whole design, and it is why a Stillson handles seized threaded pipework that a rigid wrench slips on. Jaw capacity and handle length are specified together: both scale with the pipe size you intend to turn.
