AC suits larger duties and lets a standard industrial pump and motor be used, which makes spares easier to obtain locally than for a proprietary DC unit - a real consideration where the installation is remote. Output rises and falls with the sun, so storage is usually a tank rather than a battery. Specify the head, the daily volume required, the water source and the site location.
