About this unit
Whole kernel is worth substantially more than broken, so the figure that matters on a cutting machine is not throughput but the percentage of nuts that come out of it intact. This machine holds a whole-kernel result of up to 98%. It processes 20 to 23 kg per hour, driven by a 0.5 HP three-phase motor through a gearbox, and weighs 120 kg. It can be run semi-automatically or fully automatically depending on how it is fed. Maintenance requirement is low, which matters on a machine that runs continuously through the cutting season. More than 500 shelling machines have been supplied over the last five years. The 20 to 23 kg per hour rate means output is normally scaled by installing several units in parallel rather than by seeking a single larger machine, which also keeps a line running when one unit is down for blade changes.
