Turkey is an unusual market for us because it is also a manufacturing country in its own right, with a substantial domestic machinery industry. Buyers here are technically literate, compare specifications closely, and are quick to identify a machine that has been described more generously than it performs. We quote Turkey on figures rather than adjectives.

What Turkish buyers specify

Food processing is the largest category. We supply tomato paste and fruit concentrate plant, which is a major Turkish export industry; olive oil extraction and refining; dried fruit and nut processing, particularly for hazelnuts, apricots and figs; flour milling; bakery and confectionery equipment; and dairy processing. Packaging machinery accompanies most of these.

Beyond food, Turkey takes cold storage and refrigeration plant for the substantial fresh produce export trade, agricultural machinery and post-harvest equipment, construction machinery, and workshop and garage tooling. There is also demand for water treatment plant and for solar system products.

Shipping to Turkey

Consignments route through Mersin for the south and the Adana industrial belt, Izmir and Aliăga for the Aegean region, Ambarlı and the Istanbul-area ports for Marmara, or Gemlik for the Bursa industrial zone. Turkey's road network is excellent and inland haulage to Anatolian destinations is straightforward.

Shipments leave with the packing list, commercial invoice, certificate of origin and any inspection certificates required. Turkey's customs union arrangement with the European Union affects duty treatment depending on origin and documentation, so the paperwork is worth getting exactly right — we prepare it to suit the route the goods are taking rather than issuing a generic set.

Built for local conditions

Turkey runs on 230 V at 50 Hz, with Type C and F sockets in use. Equipment is built to that supply at the order stage. Turkish buyers frequently specify to European technical standards and expect documentation to match, including conformity marking where the product category requires it. Manuals and control panel labelling can be supplied in English or Turkish, and Turkish labelling is usually expected for operator-facing controls.

Tender and bulk supply

Public procurement runs through a formal electronic tender system with strict documentation requirements and firm deadlines. We supply technical specifications and compliance documentation in the required format, along with manufacturer authorisation letters where the bid asks for them. Turkish tenders tend to be technically detailed, and a response that does not address the specification line by line is unlikely to progress.

Installation and support

We commission on site and train operators, though Turkey needs less of this than most markets — the domestic engineering base is deep and buyers here are generally capable of installing and maintaining plant themselves given proper documentation. Where that is the case we supply full technical documentation and remain available for support rather than insisting on an on-site visit that adds cost without adding value.

Getting a price

Send the product, the throughput you need per hour, the port of entry and the technical standard you are working to. If you are comparing against a domestic supplier, tell us — we would rather quote against a clear benchmark than have the comparison made on incomplete information. You get a machine list, a delivered price and a lead time in writing.

Buying components and sub-assemblies

Because Turkey manufactures machinery itself, a proportion of our Turkish enquiries are not for complete lines at all but for specific units, sub-assemblies or process sections that a Turkish builder wants to integrate into a plant of their own. We are happy to supply on that basis. What we need is the interface: the input and output condition, the physical envelope, the utilities available and the control philosophy the surrounding plant uses. Given those, we will quote a unit that integrates rather than one that has to be worked around.

Export production and downstream requirements

Much of Turkey's food processing output is destined for European and Middle Eastern markets, which imposes requirements that run back into the equipment — contact material certification, cleanability, traceability and documentation an auditor will accept. We supply material certificates and technical files for food contact parts with the plant rather than on request afterwards.
