Iraq is a rebuilding market, and the machinery demand follows directly from that. Processing capacity that was lost or degraded is being re-established, often on existing sites and often by buyers who need a plant running quickly rather than a project that takes two years to commission. Infrastructure constraints are real and we treat them as design inputs rather than as complications to be discovered after delivery.

What Iraqi buyers specify

Food processing leads. We supply flour milling plant, which is fundamental to domestic food supply; date processing and packing for one of the country's signature crops; dairy processing; bakery and confectionery equipment; juice and beverage lines; and food packaging machinery. Cold storage and refrigeration are in consistent demand across food distribution and a rebuilding retail sector.

Beyond food, we ship water treatment plant — a persistent and significant need — along with pumping and distribution equipment, construction machinery for reconstruction work, workshop and garage equipment, fire fighting and detection systems, and generators and power equipment.

Shipping to Iraq

Consignments route principally through Umm Qasr in the south, which is Iraq's main deep-water port and serves Basra and onward movement north. For the Kurdistan region, overland routes through Turkey via the Ibrahim Khalil crossing or through Iran are commonly used and can be faster to the northern governorates than shipping to Umm Qasr and hauling the length of the country. The right route depends on the destination and we will quote the options rather than assume one.

Shipments leave with the packing list, commercial invoice, certificate of origin and any inspection or conformity certificates required. Iraqi import procedures require careful documentation and a pre-shipment inspection regime applies to a range of goods — we prepare that documentation before the container moves rather than dealing with it on arrival.

Built for local conditions

Iraq runs on 230 V at 50 Hz, with Type C, D and G sockets all encountered. Equipment is built to the site supply at the order stage. Two conditions genuinely shape specification here. The first is power: mains supply is intermittent across much of the country and a great deal of industry runs partly or wholly on private generation, so plant is specified with staged starting loads, soft starters where duty justifies them, and control systems that recover cleanly from an interruption rather than requiring a full manual restart. Tell us the generator rating at the site and we will size the line to it.

The second is heat and dust. Summer ambient temperatures are extreme and airborne dust loading is high, so refrigeration condensers, motor cooling and cabinet ventilation are specified accordingly and filtration is treated as essential rather than optional. Manuals and control panel labelling can be supplied in English, Arabic or Kurdish.

Payment, phasing and documentation

Purchasing arrangements in Iraq often need to fit a particular banking route or funding structure. We hold quoted prices for a stated period so an approval can be completed, we will phase a plant across two or three shipments where that suits a buyer's payment position, and we will issue documentation in whatever form a bank or funder requires. Tender and reconstruction supply

Ministry programmes, provincial authorities and reconstruction and development funding account for a substantial share of machinery purchasing. We supply technical specifications and compliance documentation in the required format, along with manufacturer authorisation letters where a bid asks for them.

Installation and support

We commission on site and train operators. Iraq has a capable engineering tradition and plants installed here are generally maintained locally once training is complete. Wear parts are identified with their specifications at handover so they can be held on site — worth doing in a market where resupply is not always quick.

Speed of installation

A recurring requirement in Iraq is a plant that can be producing quickly, often into an existing building rather than a new one. Where that is the priority we will say honestly which parts of a specification can be compressed and which cannot — manufacturing lead time on major process equipment is difficult to shorten, but layout, civil works and utility connections can often be planned in parallel rather than in sequence, and pre-assembled skid-mounted arrangements can cut on-site installation substantially.
