Cambodia is a market in the middle of building its processing capacity. A great deal of the country's agricultural output still leaves as raw material to be processed elsewhere, and much of the machinery demand we see is from businesses trying to change that — milling, drying, packing and cold storage that keeps value inside the country rather than exporting it with the crop.

What Cambodian buyers specify

Rice is the foundation. We supply rice milling plant across the full range, from modest units serving a district to commercial mills producing for export, together with the drying, cleaning, grading and storage equipment that determines whether the milled product meets export grade. Cassava processing is the second major category, and cashew processing has grown quickly as the country moves toward processing its own crop rather than shipping it raw across the border.

Beyond those, we ship maize and animal feed plant, oil expelling equipment, bakery and beverage lines, and fish and aquaculture processing with the associated cold chain. Cold storage and refrigeration are in strong demand generally, along with water treatment plant and solar system products for sites the grid serves poorly.

Shipping to Cambodia

Consignments route through Sihanoukville, the country's deep-water port and the natural entry point for containerised machinery, with onward road haulage to Phnom Penh and beyond. Phnom Penh's river port handles smaller consignments arriving via the Mekong. Some buyers route through Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and move overland, which can be competitive depending on the destination but adds a transit documentation layer — if you intend to do that, tell us at the quotation stage so the paperwork is prepared correctly.

Shipments leave with the packing list, commercial invoice, certificate of origin and any inspection certificates required for the product category.

Built for local conditions

Cambodia runs on 230 V at 50 Hz, with Type A, C and G sockets all encountered. Equipment is built to the site supply at the order stage. Grid coverage has improved considerably but rural supply remains variable, so plant destined for provincial sites is specified with generator or solar operation in mind and starting loads staged accordingly. Humidity is high and the wet season pronounced, so enclosures and electrical equipment are specified for those conditions. Manuals and control labelling can be supplied in English or Khmer.

Serviceability and operator training

Cambodia's industrial maintenance base is still developing, and that shapes what we recommend rather than only how we install. Where a simpler, more robust machine will do the job we will say so, because sophistication that cannot be maintained locally is a liability rather than an asset. Commissioning includes training the client's staff on maintenance as well as operation, and wear parts are identified with their specifications at handover so they can be held on site or reordered in good time.

Export grade and buyer requirements

Cambodian rice and cashew exporters sell into markets with real quality expectations, and the equipment determines whether the output meets them — broken grain percentage, moisture consistency, colour sorting and contamination control are all set by how the plant is specified, not by how carefully it is operated. Tell us the grade you need to hit and the market you are selling into, and we will specify the line to reach it rather than quoting a mill that mills.

Tender, cooperative and donor supply

Public tenders, agricultural cooperatives and donor-funded programmes account for a meaningful share of machinery purchasing in Cambodia. We supply technical specifications and compliance documentation in the format required, along with manufacturer authorisation letters where a bid asks for them, and we consolidate group orders into single shipments to reduce landed cost per unit.

Getting a price

Send the crop or product, the output you need per hour or per day, the province the plant is going to, the power available at the site, and the grade or market your output has to satisfy. You get a machine list, a delivered price and a lead time in writing.

Financing, phasing and cooperative purchase

Capital is the binding constraint on a great many Cambodian projects, and how a purchase is structured often matters as much as what is bought. We will phase a plant across two or three shipments so a buyer can commission the core process first and add the finishing and packing stages once it is earning; we will hold quoted prices for a stated period so a bank or a development lender can complete its approval; and we quote cooperative and group purchases on the same terms as a single commercial buyer.
